Thermistors are temperature sensors used for the measurement of temperature. Thermistor actually means 'thermally sensitive resistors'. They are semiconductor sensors made from mixtures of metal oxides. They exhibit a change in resistance w.r.t temperature. Thermistors have negative temperature coefficient of resistance. Thermistors are available in many design configurations such as rod type, bead type, disc type etc. Thermistors are passive transducers and require an external voltage supply for their operation Signal conditioning is achieved through wheatstone bridge or voltage divider circuit.
