Semiconductor diodes are widely used in rectifier circuits.A rectifier is an electronic circuit which converts ac supply into dc form.It is required as most of the gadgets and appliances require dc power for their operation but the power supply we get is ac.So we need rectifiers to convert it into dc .These appliances have in-built rectifying circuits.
