Drumstick leaf is gaining importance due to the raising health consciousness aspect among the people globally. I seem to observe that even in the U S it is now a days it is abundantly available in weekly farmers market. The dry leaves powder is also available in plenty. I would like to put up drumstick leaves dal of my version. Here goes the recipe:
INGREDIENTS:
1. Toor dal cooked - 1/2 cup
2. Cooking oil - 1 tbsp
3. Byadgi chili - 2
4. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
5. Cumin seeds - 3/4 tsp
6. Garlic pods - 5
7. julienne chopped
8. Chopped onion - 3/4 cup
9. Salt - as needed
10. Red chili powder - 1 tsp
10. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
11. Chopped drumstick leaves - 2 cups
12. Tamarind juice - 1 tsp
13. Cooked Toor dal - 1/2 cup
14. Roasted peanut powder coarse - 1-2 tsp
PROCEDURE: Place a cooker and cook 1/2 cup too dal till soft. Place a pan with 2 tsp cooking oil in it on medium flame. When heated add byadgi chili, mustard seeds and when it crackles, add cumin seeds to it. Once it crackles add julienne chopped garlic pods and fry till aromatic. Add chopped onions , salt to it and fry till onion turns translucent. Add red chili powder, turmeric powdr and fry till combined. Add chopped drumstick leaves and stir. Cover and cook till it wilts. Add cooked dal and mix till combined. Add water adjust consistency and cook till it is combined. Add coarse powder of peanut and cook for a minute. Enjoy crunchy yummy dal! Enjoy with rice and papad!
