يعتبر فن الرسم بالرمل الملون داخل القوارير الزجاجية من الفنون القديمة ، وأول من عرفه الأنباط بعد اكتشافهم للساعة الرملية. و انتقل هذا الفن إلى جميع البلاد العربية والأجنبية خصوصا المناطق التي تتوفر فيها المادة الأساسية و هي رمل الكوارتز أو رمل المازار. يتم عمل المناظر الطبيعية و الكتابة التي يناسب رسمها بالرمل داخل الزجاجة اضافة إلى ضغط الرمل داخل الزجاجة باحكام وذلك لمنع تخريب المنظر المرسوم بالرمل عند التحريك أو عند الشحن و يتم اغلاق القنينة من الأعلى لمنع تسرب الرمل منها وبذلك نحافظ على العمل الفني. يفضل دائماً أستخدام الرمال البحرية الفاتحة المصفاة و المنتقاة بواسطة المنخل من الشوائب ، ولتنظيف أفضل للرمل نقوم بغسله بنقع الرمل في سطل ملئ بالماء، وتحريكه فيه، ثم نسكب الماء، ونترك الرمل في قاع السطل، ونستمر بعملية غسل الرمل حتى يصبح نظيفاً بدون شوائب ثم يفرش الرمل على قطعة كرتون، أو قطعة خشب، ويترك ليجف تحت أشعة الشمس لمدة يوم أو يومين. نقوم بعملية تلوين الرمل داخل أكواب البلاستيك، بإضافة البودرة الملونه، للرمل المنقى، ومن الأفضل إضافة الألوان الداكنة للرمل فاتح اللون، في حالة عدم توفر لون الرمل مائل للبياض، يمكن إضافة اللون الأبيض للرمل أولاً، ومن ثم إضافة اللون المطلوب تحضيره .
