King Charles and Camilla's unusual bedroom layout at Clarence House, a big change. King Charles and the Queen Consort have put their own spin on a royal tradition inside their home, Clarence House. In line with royal tradition, most married members of the Royal Family tend to have separate bedrooms. The late Queen Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip, were among those who followed this rule but not everyone in the Royal Family chooses to do so. King Charles and Queen Camilla have put their own spin on the tradition by opting to have three bedrooms in their long-term London residence, Clarence House. Now that Charles has become King, he may opt to relocate to Buckingham Palace, but will likely remain in Clarence House while he waits for the refurbishment to be completed. According to a friend of Charles and Camilla, the "secret" to their "long-lasting marriage" is not two, but three bedrooms in Clarence House. That’s because the arrangement allows the duo to have their own designated space as well as a shared bedroom. “[His Royal Highness] has a room with a double bed, decorated to his own taste, then Camilla has her own room with a double bed, decorated just the way she likes it." The source continued: “In addition, they have a shared bedroom with a double bed that they can use whenever they like. The arrangement suits them perfectly.” The couple has lived at Clarence House since their wedding in 2005, which is around the corner from Buckingham Palace, the official home of the monarch of the United Kingdom. The property, which has since been extensively renovated, used to belong to the Queen Mother before her death in 2002. Members of Team ExtraOARdinary met Camilla at Clarence House earlier this year, and the room they were sitting in was ornately decorated in blue and gold. Pictures showed several paintings dotted around the room, and several photographs were laid on tables around an antique furniture suite. Royal fans were previously given a glimpse of this room during the state visit of former US president Donald Trump and his wife Melania, and the room boasted stunning green lamps and a plate collection. Another photo previously taken inside Clarence House showed off a corner of the Garden Room boasting a French writing desk with a bust of the Queen Mother, underneath the Noah's Ark painting by Leandro Bassano. A grand staircase at Clarence House surrounded by paintings was also shared with the public when King Charles delivered a speech in 2007. According to the Royal Collection Trust, Clarence House has a collection of "Chinese porcelain, some originally made for the Royal Pavilion at Brighton, a Tompion clock made for William III at Kensington Palace, and works by Veronese and Carracci". King Charles relied on the expert skills of the late interior decorator Robert Kime when he took up residence in the early 2000s. Mr Kime once said of Clarence House: "If you have a view of it being a palace, you are sunk. "The part that is on view to the public had to be slightly monumental, because it is an official residence. But I also wanted to create an atmosphere where one can carry on an ordinary conversation with the [Prince] without feeling over-awed. It had to be as comfortable for the gardener to sit down and talk to him as for the Queen of Spain to do so. Hello, welcome to the King Charles III & Royal channel !
