The quarter mile never saw anything like this before! On today's Monster Hobbies Model Car Garage we will be looking at the 1967 Hurst Hairy Oldsmobile Funny Car by Monogram. This is a model car unboxing video. By far the most popular crowd pleasing "Funny Car" in the world today. This Hurst Hairy Olds comes off the line with all four of the slicks smoking. Imagine a four-wheel drive Olds 4-4-2 with 1000 plus H.P. Toronado engines in front and rear doing terrifying, tire frying, wheel spins the length of the drag strip. Speed is over 185 mph, climaxed by two huge colorful drag chutes popping out at the end of the run. Features of this authentic kit include two complete 425 cubic inch Toronado engines, Hilborn four port "bugcatcher" fuel injection system, two GMC 6:71 superchargers, Craiger blower drives, complete driver protection roll cage, fully detailed interior, and authentic full color Hurst decal markings. The Hurst Hairy Oldsmobile Funny Car was literally built from the ground up at the Hurst Performance Research Corporation in Detroit. A Toronado drive unit was attached to each of the specially constructed reinforced tube frame. this tube frame is also used as the radiator. Then the supercharged 425 cubic inch Toronado engines were installed, one at the front to drive the two front wheels and one at the rear, driving the rear wheels. these engines feature such items as a Hilborn four port "bugcatcher" fuel injection system, Schiefer magneto, GMC 6:71 supercharger, sharp manifold, Mickey Thompson pistons and forged aluminum rods, Iskenderian cam and valve train, Milodon bearing support, Craiger Blower drive, and headers by Doug. After a complete driver protection roll cage was installed the Oldsmobile 4-4-2 body was added and then was fully instrumented for both engines with Teleflex instruments. The driver, Gentleman Joe Schubeck, wears the latest in formal wear, a tailed fire suit designed by Bell. Pure excitement, that's what Monogram has captured in this 1/24th scale hybrid funny car model.
