Manda pitha or rice dumpling with coconut filling is one of the most mouth watering dishes. Traditionally manda pithas are made during festivals and on special occasions. Earlier before the availability of electric grinder, the rice batter used to be prepared by either soaking the rice and grinding it in stone or by washing and drying the rice and then pounding it into powder using traditional tools. There are also regional variations, mostly in the shape of the manda pitha.
