I was born in america but i am first generation italian - my mother was born & raised in livorno, italy. @nidiashalabi2036last yearI married a palestinian man being a mexican woman myself and pretty sure the first time i watched him dance dabke for the first time was what reaffirmed t he is now in his mid-30s and watching him dance still takes my breath away. Sometimes i join (though i can never keep up, and always in the privacy of our home where i will look ridiculous and wont be judged ) saturday mornings our home is filled with sounds of dabke and cumbia blasting in our home, but every beat of the dabke drum gets my heart racing every single time. anyway, peace and love to the people who have been shaped by and inherited this incredibly beautiful culture.
