    @wem31215 years ago Hello ak, i' ve been following your videos for most of my years in medschool (from 1st and now i' m in my 4th) and i' d like to thank you so much however i have a question and i only aspire that you will kindly answer me:
    if in the case of only one functional alpha gene doesn' t give alpha hb proteins at all (only hb barts and beta tetramers) why the complete absence of it is incompatible with life? Is the gene that important even if it' s not translated to proteins?

    @yemaster90004 years ago Just a minor correction: hb barts (hemoglobin barts disease) is actually associated with hydrops fetalis rather than hbh disease as the diagram depicts. (from first aid 2020)
