Today is Children's day in Japan 子供の日(Kodomo no hi), which is an important part of golden week (the first week of May). Golden week is like spring break for the Japanese, because there are 3 national holidays in a row! When I lived in Japan, I certainly enjoyed this break from the normal hard work schedule! I'm not the best singer but I tried to sing "koi no bori" which is about the carp streamers they hang everywhere to represent the children in the family and in Japan!
